How we work
The eight desks
Every article sits on exactly one desk, chosen by what it does for the reader.
- Discover · What has sport just learned?
- Define · What does this actually mean?
- Design · How would you build this better?
- Develop · How do athletes, coaches and systems improve over time?
- Data · What does the measurement reveal that observation misses?
- Drive · What changes behaviour or results?
- Defend · Where is the risk, and how is sport responding?
- Deal · Who gets the money, rights, power or commercial upside?
Article rules
- Always segmented: headed sections a reader can scan.
- End ledgers on every article: sources used, sources investigated but not used (with the honest reason), image credits when figures appear, and mentioned entities when products or organisations are named.
How we source
Start from a seed you can read: a paper, official report, published dataset, financial statement, or credible reporting. Primary before secondary. Open every source and record what was read.
- OPENED (verbatim): read and checked word for word.
- OPENED (fetch tool): read through a summarising tool; re-check verbatim before writing.
- SNIPPET ONLY: seen in a search result; never a seed and never a figure.
- BLOCKED: paywall, 403, or script wall: not read; may appear under investigated-but-not-used.
A source we could not read is never cited as read. Our own calculations are labelled as ours. We do not invent figures, quotes, or athlete cases. See the source catalogue.
Automation and AI
Research and drafting are assisted by editorial jobs managed from the staff desk. Nothing goes live without a human accept. Automated copy (when used) is labelled. The public site never auto-publishes.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we correct it on the article and note what changed. Reach the desk at moldovancsaba@gmail.com.
Labels we use
- Explainer / Analysis / News: article kinds. Opinion is reserved for signed columns.
- Desk: one of the eight reader promises above.
- Subject: sport science, sponsorship, sport tech, and related tags.
